DIAB Aerospace interiors core plant comes on-stream
Thursday, 17 January 2008

Leading composites core producer DIAB has just brought on stream it’s dedicated facility for the production of Divinycell F, a new polymer core material that has been specially developed for commercial aircraft interiors. Located close to DIAB’s existing DeSoto, Texas manufacturing operation, the new core material offers excellent FST (fire, smoke and toxicity) and more than exceeds the USA and European regulatory requirements for aircraft interiors properties.

Divinycell F also offers good mechanical properties, superior damage tolerance, exceptional fatigue life, low water absorption, excellent heat ageing at 180°C and good processing characteristics. Chemical resistance to the majority of aircraft fluids is excellent.

With its superior fire properties Divinycell F is ideal for aircraft interiors including wall paneling, ceiling modules, luggage bins and doors/lockers. Its close cell structure makes it particularly suitable for galleys and toilets.

Divinycell F is compatible with most common composite manufacturing processes up to 220°C cure cycles, including pre-pregs and infusion. When used with most pre-pregs, it does not require the use of a film adhesive. It is also compatible with the most common thermoplastic and thermoset resins used by aircraft manufacturers.

Currently Divinycell F is available in three densities - 50, 90 and 130 kg/m3 and can be supplied in both plain sheets and kit form.
