PRESS RELEASE
Issued by: Tecnatom
The aircraft manufacturer has just acquired the latest ultrasonic inspection system technology offered by Tecnatom for its plant in the French city of Nantes. Although Airbus has incorporated Tecnatom solutions in the past for aeronautical components manufactured in composites, this is the first time that it has done so at one of its French manufacturing plants.
For the implementation of this project, Tecnatom has put together an innovative technique for the development of inspection systems based on ultrasonics in air and including the use of a single robot capable of performing inspections through application of the yoke transmission technique. This simple and efficient solution will be used on the acoustic panels of the A320neo, the new version of the Airbus A320 that aims to reduce fuel burn and environmental impact.
This order, the first placed by Airbus for Tecnatom's new generation systems, strengthens the relationship existing between the two companies, embodied in a framework agreement for the joint supply of NDT systems.
