Sonex Aircraft offers quick build kits featuring pre-built major assemblies
Friday, 12 July 2013

Sonex Aircraft, LLC is proud to announce the availability of new Quick Build options for the Sonex, Waiex, and Onex aircraft models! These new Quick Build kit upgrades will consist of Sonex Aircraft Complete Airframe Kits with major assemblies pre-constructed – the fuselage and wing of the aircraft will be included assembled and riveted, and the aircraft canopy will be installed. Sonex and Waiex wings are rigged and match-drilled to the fuselage, and Onex outboard wing panels are rigged and match-drilled to the wing center section. Quick Build upgrade pricing for all three aircraft models is $10,000. Sonex Aircraft Quick Build assemblies will be on display during the upcoming EAA AirVenture Oshksosh fly-in, and will be featured in a press briefing at the Sonex Aircraft exhibit booth (North Aircraft Display Area, Booth #622) on Monday, July 29th at 10am.

“We are very excited to enter the Quick Build market with our popular Sonex Aircraft designs,” commented Sonex Aircraft CEO Jeremy Monnett. “Combined with our market-leading Complete Airframe Kit pricing, Quick Build Sonex Aircraft kit total price will start at $23,000. This represents a savings of approximately $5,000 to $10,000 over our competition in the Quick Build marketplace, offering the Sonex Aircraft ‘Best Performance Per Dollar’ to yet another segment of the homebuilt aircraft community! Sonex Quick Build assemblies are constructed right here in Oshkosh, Wisconsin by a local contractor with regular quality inspections by Sonex Aircraft staff.”

In compliance with the “major portion” requirement of 14 CFR section 21.191(g) for experimental/amateur-built aircraft, commonly referred to as the “51 Percent Rule,” the FAA National Kit Evaluation Team (NKET) concluded an audit of Sonex Aircraft Quick Build Kits on July 10th. “The FAA NKET once again completed a thorough, professional, and consistent audit of the Quick Build Sonex, Waiex, and Onex kits,” continued Monnett. “Sonex is seeking to maximize the amount we are allowed to do using the 8000-38 checklist to deliver value both in terms of build time and reduction of skills needed for construction while maintaining the highest possible quality and workmanship. The NKET audit took place over a 3-day period with all models resulting in a compliant Quick Build comparable with most others in the market.” Sonex Aircraft, LLC is expecting the new Sonex, Waiex, and Onex Quick Build 8000-38 checklists to be published on the FAA web site soon, and a notice of their availability will be placed on the Sonex Aircraft web site as soon as official confirmation is received.

Sonex Aircraft will be offering specialized transport services for Quick Build Kits to most regions of the lower 48 United States through Partain Transport Company, an exceptionally reputable and experienced carrier specializing in the transport of quick build kits for multiple homebuilt aircraft companies. “Sonex Aircraft is pleased to be working with Partain Transport to move our new Quick Build product,” remarks Sonex General Manager Mark Schaible. “Partain is able to offer safe, reliable and fully-insured transport services to Sonex Quick Build customers including residential delivery at no additional charge, and without the need for crating. With no crating, unloading a kit at your home or hangar is a simple and easy two-person task!” Kits shipping internationally will be fully crated for a $500 crating fee. Sonex Aircraft Quick Build Kits are built-to-order, and custom lead-times apply.
