Avionics display provider Barco has obtained ETSO-C113 certification for its novel Control Display Unit CDMS-3000. The certification successfully rounds off the airworthiness authorization procedure for the CDMS-3000 product, as laid down by the European Aviation Safety Agency.
"The ETSO-C113 certification for our CDMS-3000 paves the way for aerospace companies to equip their cockpits with the very best of today's control display technology. The new CDMS-3000 introduces a full set of operational benefits to both the integrators and the end users, including exceptional brightness and contrast, compact dimensions, low weight and excellent energy efficiency," explains Yves Vanhauwaert, General Manager of Barco's avionics division. "Another major asset of the new CDMS-3000 is its modular, open MOSArt architecture, which enables customers to develop or integrate their own avionics applications, or easily upgrade an existing application to meet future needs."
The new CDMS-3000 is the successor of Barco's proven Control Display and Management System 'CDMS'. It comes as a complete product family, including the civil CDMS-3739 (ARINC 739), the military-oriented CDMS-3753 (combo ARINC-429 and MIL-STD-1553), and the versatile CDMS-3702, hosting the unique MOSArt platform. Various keyboard sizes with different engravings and colors are available, offering form-fit-function compatibility with existing units.
In the meantime, Barco's CDMS-3000 has achieved commercial success with major contract wins for a variety of aircraft and helicopter platforms. The unit has been selected, amongst others, for the next generation Sikorsky S-76D civil helicopter, the C-130 transporters used by the French Air Force and the Dassault Atlantique 2 patrol aircraft deployed by the French Navy. Recently, Barco also won a contract to deliver a variant of the CDMS-3000 to the C-27J Joint Cargo Aircraft.
