PRESS RELEASE
Issued by: Fives Machining Systems, Inc.
MAG Industrial Automation Systems recently shipped a titanium profiler machining system to Russian titanium producer VSMPO-Avisma, as part of a 34-machine order valued at more than $74 million. The MAG machines will provide critical manufacturing capacity to the newly established Landing Gear Manufacturing Center of Excellence in Verkhnyaya Salda, Russia, part of the Ural Boeing Manufacturing (UBM) joint venture with Boeing, and will produce titanium components for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the Boeing 777 and other aircraft.
MAG was selected by VSMPO-Avisma and UBM as the main supplier of equipment, and MAG developed the production control process and engineering, as well as providing an extensive package of support services and tooling. The new machines will allow UBM to provide complete machining of precision titanium parts where it previously provided only rough parts. Members of the MAG team attended the UBM grand opening on July 7 in Verkhnyaya Salda. The event took place during the visit of President Barack Obama to Russia. MAG team members that worked on these machining systems assembled for a photo with one of the titanium profilers, and the photo was framed and presented at the UBM grand opening ceremony.
MAG is the world's largest U.S.-based machine tool company and is the global leader in metal cutting machine tools and automated composites equipment for the aerospace, automotive and renewable energy sectors.
