PRESS RELEASE
Issued by: Kaman Composites - Vermont
Kaman Composites - Vermont, Inc. (KCV), a division of Kaman Aerosystems, has expanded its manufacturing capacity by investing almost $2.0M in capital equipment and a building expansion.
"Our commitment to the long term success of Kaman Composites Vermont is demonstrated by these capital expenditures. In order to support rapid growth from a previously announced large multi-year supplier award, an additional commercial aerospace Smart Manufacturing Cell had to be created to support additional capacity and enhanced capability," stated Bill Berg, Senior Director, Business Development.
"Smart Manufacturing is a uniquely positioned approach to composite manufacturing that blends the correct level of automation with proven legacy approaches. This drives maximum quality, cost and schedule adherence which results in superb customer satisfaction," stated Alexander Gamble, Senior Site Leader. He added that, "KCV also plans additional capital expenditures in 2018 to support an expanding customer base and process capability".
New capital equipment acquisitions include: an ASC Autoclave (10 ft. x 30 ft.), a Matec 7-axis C-scan NDI machine (12 ft. x 4 ft. x 6 ft.), a dual bay 5-axis CNC router, a 5-axis CNC router, a core CNC router, and a CNC machine utilized for thin laminates.
The addition of the autoclave necessitated an expansion of KCV's manufacturing facility, increasing its current footprint to almost 90,000 square feet.
KCV, an AS9100 Rev D registered company located in Bennington, Vermont, offers a full line of services in composites from design, prototyping and testing, to full production of composite components and assemblies. KCV fabricates components for the defense, aerospace, commercial and imaging markets. KCV is Nadcap accredited for composite processing, NDI and chemical processing.
