Moog celebrates first flight of 787 Dreamliner
Wednesday, 16 December 2009

The Boeing Company completed its 787 Dreamliner maiden flight in Seattle, WA on December 15th. Moog's flight control actuation system positioned the aircraft's flight surfaces in response to pilot commands. The Moog system controls all of the primary flight surfaces including ailerons, flaperons, elevators, rudder, flight spoilers and horizontal stabilizer. Moog also supplies the complete high lift system, which controls the leading edge slats and trailing edge flaps.

"First flight represents a significant milestone in any program's evolution," said Warren Johnson, Moog's Aircraft Controls Group President. "This accomplishment is a testament to the hard work and attention to purpose of so many dedicated people. I wish to congratulate Boeing and everyone on the team who made this day possible." More than 10 separate Moog facilities across the U.S., Europe and Asia contributed to the design, production, integration and certification efforts.
