Sypris Electronics, a subsidiary of Sypris Solutions, Inc., announced today that it has been awarded an estimated $6 million in follow-on orders by Honeywell International, Inc., Defense and Space Electronic Systems located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to produce electronic assemblies for the F-16 Digital Flight Control Computer (DFLCC). The flight-critical DFLCC is a quadruple redundant computer at the core of the fly-by-wire flight control system for the F-16. The DFLCC combines pilot inputs along with aircraft motion and flight conditions to command position of the flight control surfaces for increased aircraft performance and survivability. The F-16 Fighting Falcon, first introduced in 1978, is a lightweight, multi-role fighter aircraft developed for the United States Air Force by Lockheed Martin. This award will support the Ogden Air Logistics Center at Hill Air Force base located in northern Utah and their initiative of maintaining the F-16 fleet. “We are pleased to continue to support Honeywell on the DFLCC program as well as other defense contracts,” said John Walsh, President of Sypris Electronics. “We are gaining traction as one of the premier end-to-end manufacturing services providers in the aerospace and defense communities. Sypris Electronics is uniquely qualified to perform full-spectrum manufacturing support from product concept and design through manufacturing and depot.”
