TARSIS 75 testing in the RAPAZ programme
Tuesday, 26 January 2021

The TARSIS 75 RPAS by AERTEC has successfully completed the latest Rapaz Programme flight tests, by the Spanish Ministry of Defence's General Directorate of Armament and Materials (DGAM). These flight trials certified the TARSIS 75 range and altitude as surpassing 75 kms and 14,000 feet. However, this fixed-wing air vehicle made entirely of carbon fibre has demonstrated a range of 150 kms in Spain at the INTA Arenosillo facilities.

These tests have also served to verify modifications of the plane and the ground control station, at the request of the DGAM, Airforce and Army – as well as the use of TARSIS 75 as a fire support system, with target identification and shot correction. Testing was performed at the Conde de Gazola Army Base in the province of Leon.

The Spanish Ministry of Defence launched the Rapaz Programme in 2016 with the aim of evaluating proposals for Remotely Piloted Air Systems (RPAS) of less than 150 kg for future acquisitions by the Armed Forces. The RPAS TARSIS 75 from AERTEC Solutions has since successfully completed 4 trials in this program, demonstrating the high technical performance of this light tactical RPAS intended for observation and surveillance applications.

Rapaz Program testing as also demonstrated TARSIS 75 capabilities for the Air Force as a possible training aircraft for the School of Unmanned Air Systems at the Matacan Air Base (Salamanca), together with the functionalities of the RPAS simulator from AERTEC Solutions.

The TARSIS 75 is high-performance class 1 RPAS system, specifically designed and built to offer two very important features: a high load integration capacity (more than 12 kg) and long flight duration (up to 12 hours). With these capabilities, the system has broad configuration flexibility, capable of adapting to the vast majority of operating environments, including highly complex circumstances.
