Turkish Aerospace (TUSAS) acceptance tests were successfully completed for the 50th T700-TEI-701D engine manufactured by TEI within the scope of Turkish Utility Helicopter Program (TUHP) initiated by the Presidency of Defence Industries for the purpose of meeting Turkey's utility helicopter requirements with domestic resources.

Chairman & CEO Prof. Mahmut F. Aksit, Board Members, TEI Executives and TEI personnel participated in the event held at TEI Eskisehir facilities in commemoration of the delivery of the 50th engine. Aksit delivered a speech in the event, and stated that so far they had produced 63 T700-TEI-701D engines, Turkey's first domestically manufactured helicopter engine, and been continuing to deliver engines that passed relevant tests. Expressing their great joy for the delivery of the 50th helicopter engine upon completion of the tests, and sharing that T700-TEI-701D engines manufactured by TEI had a significant place in T700 engine family, Aksit said, "We are now generating 60 shaft horsepowers more than the previous version, which is still used in our country's inventories."

Within the scope of the project for the provision of utility helicopters to be used by Land Forces Command, Air Forces Command, Special Forces Command, General Command of Gendarmerie, National Police and Directorate General of Forestry; TEI will manufacture 236 T700-TEI-701D Turboshaft Engines in total under General Electric license at its Eskisehir facilities.

T700-TEI-701D Turboshaft Engine, the newest member of GE's T700 engine family, generates a maximum horsepower of 2,000 shaft with its weight of 207 kg, and can work safely under the harshest environmental conditions including desert dust. Turboshaft engine with the nameplate of T700-TEI-701D is the first helicopter engine manufactured in Turkey.

T70 – Utility Helicopters to be powered by T700-TEI-701D engines will meet utility helicopter requirements for Turkey's cargo, search and rescue, firefighting, air ambulance and coastguard tasks, and play a significant role in satisfying domestic needs in Turkish industrial, military and civilian use.
