GKN Aerospace joins GE Aviation in Technology development program for CFM RISE systainable aero-engine program
Monday, 18 July 2022

GKN Aerospace announced today at the Farnborough Airshow that it has entered into a Joint Technology Development Program (JTDP) with GE Aviation to collaborate in the development and maturation of open fan architecture for the CFM RISE Technology Demonstration Program. RISE was launched by CFM (GE Aviation and Safran) in 2021.

GKN Aerospace will partner in the demonstrator program through the injection of its latest technologies, component design, and production of hardware adapted to support the program targets, as well as the validation plan for the programme. The GKN Aerospace team is currently working with GE Aviation to define the detailed schedules. GKN Aerospace's involvement in this important program reinforces the company's commitment to sustainability.

Alexander Andersson, GKN Aerospace SVP Programs, said: “GE Aviation and GKN Aerospace have had a relationship for more than 40 years. Over the years we have grown our responsibility on GE engines and today we are in long-term partnerships with design authority in several programmes. The next step in this partnerships is to ensure that we continue to invest in the right technologies and tailor our solutions to create the best value for our customer. Being able to enter this collaboration for the RISE program enables us to do so, and I am proud to be part of the journey to a sustainable future of flight.”
