On 17th April 2023 Conscious Aerospace B.V. and De Havilland Aircraft of Canada, signed a first Phase Agreement to collaborate in the application of Fuel Cell based propulsion systems for the Dash 8 -300 regional aircraft. The signing ceremony was conducted in the presence of Trade related Ministers, Minister Mary Ng of Canada and Minister Liesje Schreinemacher of The Netherlands at Parliament Hill, Ottawa, Canada.
The collaboration will involve teams from both companies to undertake an assessment of retrofitting the Dash 8-300 aircraft, of which De Havilland is the OEM and Type Certificate Holder, with the Conscious Aerospace Hydrogen Aircraft Powertrain and Storage Systems known as HAPSS 2100.
Erik Geertsema, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) said “We are delighted to announce this next step in our journey. This agreement is built on a long and exciting history of collaboration between the two countries. We see the regional aircraft market as the ideal starting ground for the transition to adopting technologies using hydrogen to eliminate carbon emissions and our dependence on fossil fuels in aviation. In collaborating with De Havilland, we engage with a market leader in the field of turboprop regional aircraft.”
“We are pleased to be working with Conscious Aerospace on this exciting project. The technology required to reduce and ultimately eliminate carbon emissions produced by aircraft will not be created overnight but through collaborations such as this, we will set a path forward for a cleaner future,” said Brian Chafe, CEO of De Havilland Aircraft of Canada.
