PRESS RELEASE
Issued by: Avio Aero (GE Aerospace)
Italian company Avio, world leader in aerospace propulsion, has signed an agreement with Pratt & Whitney Canada that foresees the extension of the contract for the supply of the power transmission of the PW150 engine for the Bombardier Q400-8 regional aircraft from 2016, when the current contract expires.
Chosen by over 30 airline companies, Pratt & Whitney Canada has delivered more than 700 PW150 engines to date. The PW150 has accumulated more than 4.5 million flight hours. The PW100 engine family, of which the PW150 is the version with the greatest power (5,000 SHP), is one of the most popular worldwide for regional turboprop aircraft.
The signing confirms the soundness of Avio's relations with Pratt & Whitney Canada, which started up in the 1980s with the collaboration on the engine for PT6B-36 helicopters, and then reinforced with the collaboration on the PW308 engine family.
