PRESS RELEASE
Issued by: Avio Aero (GE Aerospace)
The Italian Group Avio, leader in aerospace propulsion, has signed an agreement that will increase from 7 to 8,2% its participation on the General Electric GE90 engine, which powers the Boeing B777 widebody aircraft.
Avio, already a participant in the programme since the 1990s for the manufacture of the accessory drive train and low-pressure turbine, has extended its participation also on other General Electric engine turbine components that, to date, Avio had produced as supplier.
The GE90, the most powerful aircraft engine in the world, has surpassed one thousand engines in service for over 20 airline companies and is one of the major successes worldwide in the field of aeronautical propulsion.
This new contract consolidates the already strong relationship between Avio the US giant General Electric, with whom the Italian company is also a participant on the innovative GEnx engine for Boeing's new Dreamliner. Avio's share on the GEnx is 12%.
