Panasonic Avionics Corporation (Panasonic Avionics), the leading provider of in-flight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) solutions, has announced the opening of a new software center of excellence in Portland, Oregon.
This strategic expansion will further augment Panasonic Avionics’ global software capabilities and further solidify its position at the cutting-edge of personalized digital engagement technology development for the airline industry. Panasonic Avionics’ global software development presence includes engineering talent in Irvine, California, Malmö, Sweden, Osaka Japan, and most recently in Pune, India. The Pune facility, which was launched in July 2024, was further strengthened with the addition of a software support team in Mumbai.
The Portland center will play a crucial role in driving innovation. By tapping into the region’s flourishing talent pool of skilled software engineers and developers, Panasonic Avionics will enhance its existing software capabilities and accelerate the development of transformative IFEC experiences for airlines and their passengers.
The new facility is integral to Panasonic Avionics' strategy of helping airlines bring their passenger digital engagement goals to life. By leveraging cutting-edge solutions and self-service enterprise software tools, the center aims to streamline operations and reduce the lifecycle costs associated with IFEC solutions.
The Portland center will launch with a core team of software engineers that specialize in Linux and Android operating systems. They will play a key role in Panasonic Avionics’ ongoing efforts in developing next-generation software platforms.
