Bell Textron Canada has delivered its 6,000th commercial aircraft, with two Subaru Bell 412EPXs destined for the Sûreté du Québec. The aircraft will be operated through the province’s Service Aérien Gouvernemental (SAG) under the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable.
The delivery ceremony took place at Bell's Commercial Delivery and Assembly Centre in Mirabel, Quebec, where production has been ongoing for nearly four decades. Bell’s general manager Michael Nault says the Mirabel facility has become “a global Center of Excellence” and that “Quebec's engineering expertise is being exported worldwide”.
Minister Sonia Bélanger describes the aircraft as “a symbol of Quebec's know-how, a shared ambition and an unwavering commitment to the safety of Quebec”.
The Sûreté du Québec carried out 116 missions last year using aircraft supplied by the SAG. Senior director Madame Liette Abel Normandin says the new additions are “essential to fulfilling our mission”, especially for aerial surveillance, rescue, flood response and tactical operations in remote terrain.
Bell’s chief commercial officer Danny Maldonado says the milestone reflects “a commitment to manufacturing aircraft capable of performing the most critical missions” and “contributing to Quebec’s economy”.
The Quebec transport ministry has operated Bell aircraft since the 1960s. The Subaru Bell 412EPX features enhancements that improve performance and reliability for law enforcement and emergency operations.
