AJ Sport SLSA to debut at AirVenture
Thursday, 19 June 2025

AeroJones Aviation USA announced today that the official launch of its first Special Light-Sport Aircraft (SLSA) for the United States market will take place during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh. The AJ Sport is launching after extensive research and development to offer an aircraft to fit the market’s needs at an accessible price point.

“For the US aviation market, we have incorporated several upgrades to the original design,” said Abid Farooqui, President and Founder of AeroJones Aviation USA. “We have a completely redesigned fuel system to reduce vapor lock, a new engine cowling for enhanced cooling, a longer wingspan with curved winglets for improved low-speed handling, and VGs for lower stall speed and softer landings.”

The easy-entry cockpit also boasts an impressive 49-inch cabin, and adjustable seats for pilot and passenger comfort.

AJ Sport options include an IFR training setup for flight schools.

This joint project between Abid Farooqui of SilverLight Aviation and the AeroJones Aviation team has been in the works since 2023 after years of design, technology, and performance improvements. These efforts have resulted in an aircraft tailor-made for the American pilot, which exceeds ASTM standards and has earned an FAA approval for an ASTM-compliant airplane.

With the AJ Sport, customers can rely on quick, correct US-based technical support, and an aircraft that is based on a proven platform that has been enhanced with final assembly and quality assurance done in the US.

“AJ Sport makes a great platform for training, sipping fuel at 3.25 gph in a typical training environment, and the glide ratio of 13:1 opens up more options in emergencies while requiring the student pilot to hit target speeds and configuration on final properly,” according to Farooqui.

The AJ Sport is equally suitable for private owners looking to do cross-country legs of 700 miles and a flight schools looking for a technically advanced aircraft made of carbon fiber composites with an optional IFR training setup.

The factory-built (SLSA) AJ Sport sells for $171,500. A BRS option adds $10,400 FOB Zephyrhills.
