Quaker Houghton HOCUT 4260 receives global approvals from aerospace leaders Airbus and BAE Systems
Monday, 22 September 2025

Quaker Houghton, the global leader in industrial process fluids, announced that its HOCUT 4260 metalworking soluble coolant has received additional global approvals from two aerospace and defense industry leaders: BAE Systems and Airbus. These prestigious approvals validate the fluid’s superior performance capabilities in critical aerospace manufacturing applications and strengthen Quaker Houghton’s position in the aerospace market.

Securing approval from aerospace OEMs represents one of the industry's most rigorous validation processes. Suppliers must demonstrate that their products significantly enhance performance, cost, or efficiency compared to existing approved solutions through extensive testing by OEM engineering and laboratory teams. HOCUT 4260's success in this demanding process underscores its exceptional capabilities, with three world-leading Tier 1 suppliers independently determining it as the most effective fluid for their machining operations.

BAE Systems awarded HOCUT 4260 approval under specification BAE AMS AM00-00-01, covering grinding and machining applications for all aluminum alloys, steels, and titanium used in BAE and F35 (Lockheed Martin) manufactured aircraft. Airbus granted approval under AIPS00-00-010 for machining plastics and composites, including unreinforced PA6, PA66, PEEK, PTFE, and non-continuous glass and carbon fiber reinforced materials.

"These dual approvals from Airbus and BAE Systems represent a significant milestone for our aerospace customers," said Jonathan Dilley, Global Director of Aerospace and Defense at Quaker Houghton. "HOCUT 4260's proven performance in the most demanding aerospace applications demonstrates our commitment to delivering innovative solutions that meet the industry's strictest standards."

HOCUT 4260 is engineered as a heavy-duty, boron-free, and formaldehyde-free metalworking fluid specifically designed for aerospace materials. The fluid excels in machining aerospace aluminum alloys (series 2000 and 7000), fiber composites, titanium alloys, and Inconel, while delivering extended tool life through its specialized additive package. Key performance benefits include:

- Versatility: Suitable for machining a wide range of materials, including aerospace aluminum alloys, high-alloy steels, stainless steel, composite materials, titanium, and other high-temperature alloys.

- Extended Tool Life: Special additive package minimizes tool wear, reducing tooling costs.

- High Detergency: Keeps parts and working environment clean.

- Very Long Sump-Life: Reduces waste disposal and direct labor requirements.

- Low Foaming: Ideal for high-speed and high-pressure operations in various water hardness conditions.

- Favorable EHS Profile: Free from boron, formaldehyde, chlorine, secondary amine, and phenol.

"The rigorous testing and validation process these approvals required confirms what our customers already know – HOCUT 4260 delivers unmatched performance in critical aerospace manufacturing," added Dilley. "This recognition from two industry leaders opens new opportunities for manufacturers seeking to optimize their operations while meeting the highest quality standards."
