GE plans investment in European manufacturing
Thursday, 27 March 2025
The €78 million investment across five countries will expand facilities, introduce advanced manufacturing processes and create over 500 aerospace jobs.

GE Aerospace will invest more than €78 million in its manufacturing sites throughout Europe during 2025. This investment aims to increase production capacity, upgrade key facilities and ensure product quality for commercial and defence customers. It will also enable greater production of next-generation engine components using advanced materials and innovative manufacturing techniques.

Riccardo Procacci, president and CEO, Propulsion and Additive Technologies at GE Aerospace says, “This new significant investment will ensure that we continue to meet the evolving needs of the aerospace industry in Europe. It is also evidence of our strong commitment to supporting the communities and economies where we operate.”

A large portion of the investment will go into engine test cells, new machinery and advanced technology such as AI-enabled inspection methods. These enhancements will support component production for narrowbody and widebody commercial aircraft engines, as well as engines used in military fighter jets and helicopters.

The investment breakdown by country includes:

- Italy (€55.6 million): new engine test cells, additional inspection technology, machinery and tooling to support aircraft engines, military jets and helicopter engines.

- Poland (€11.6 million): new machines, equipment and upgraded infrastructure for aircraft and military helicopter engine components.

- Czech Republic (€5.4 million): machinery and tooling improvements supporting turboprop engine component production.

- United Kingdom (€3.3 million): new machinery and equipment for component manufacturing and propeller system servicing.

- Romania (€2.3 million): advanced metal shaping machines, tooling and facility upgrades.

This announcement follows GE Aerospace’s previous €64 million investment in manufacturing and €122 million in Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facilities across Europe last year. GE continues to support workforce development initiatives, including apprenticeship programmes in the UK and Poland, training around 100 individuals annually and the Next Engineers programme recently expanded into Poland.
