Safran expands in Chihuahua with twelfth facility
Thursday, 15 May 2025
The solar-powered plant has brought 229 jobs and filled the final plot on the Supra Industrial Park campus as the company's regional presence deepens.

Safran has opened a 19,510 sq.m. production plant in Chihuahua’s Supra Industrial Park, marking its twelfth site in the city and reinforcing its long-term commitment to Mexico. The facility, part of the Safran Aerosystems campus, will focus primarily on evacuation systems and seating components, and is expected to generate 229 direct and 64 indirect jobs over the next 18 months.

Construction and equipment installation represented a USD 7 million investment, and the site includes assembly halls, offices, a distribution centre, training space and conference rooms. More than 1,100 solar panels have been installed to help avoid 500 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.

Sébastien Weber, CEO of Safran Aerosystems, says: “This facility not only enhances our industrial capacity but also strengthens Chihuahua's role within the global Safran Aerosystems footprint. It enables us to scale production, improve response times, optimise regional logistics and ensure the operational excellence our customers demand. The site reflects the Group’s trust in Mexican talent. We are thankful to Governor María Eugenia Campos and the State Government for their ongoing support in driving economic growth and investment. This collaboration, coupled with our teams’ dedication and quality, has been pivotal in boosting Safran’s credibility in the region.”

Safran Mexico president Alejandro Cardona adds: “We are pleased to continue strengthening the alliance between Safran and Mexico, while remaining aware of the challenges ahead in meeting the milestones we have set for 2028, both in job creation and production capacity. We trust that authorities, particularly the Ministry of Economy, will continue to enable conditions that ensure operational security and sustained growth in our exports. Only under such conditions will it be possible to maintain the upward trajectory that the aerospace sector has achieved in Mexico.”

Chihuahua State Governor Maru Campos also offered support: “Safran’s confidence in Chihuahua is a reflection of the talent of our people and the climate of certainty we provide for investment. This plant represents a new phase of industrial and technological growth for our state.”

Safran employs around 8,000 staff in Chihuahua, accounting for more than half its Mexican workforce. This facility occupies the final available parcel within the Supra Industrial Park, with further growth now dependent on national conditions that protect export viability, logistics and regulatory competitiveness.
