Skyfly shows Axe VCA as FAA paves path for light eVTOL use
Thursday, 7 August 2025
The Axe embarked on a US road trip starting with AirVenture Oshkosh, just as new FAA MOSAIC rules opened up the sport pilot category.

Skyfly’s Axe VCA (Vertically-Capable Aircraft) made its first US appearance in July at the EAA’s AirVenture show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The event is the world’s largest airshow, with over 10,000 aircraft and a record 704,000 attendees this year. Skyfly had its Axe aircraft on static display and team members on hand to speak with media, visitors and customers.

“Oshkosh was a great success for Skyfly, with new orders coming in, meeting up with existing customers, and a level of interest on our stand that was genuinely humbling,” says Michael Thompson, Skyfly's CEO.

The event marked the start of the Axe’s US road trip, which includes flight testing and demo events. The tour coincides with the introduction of FAA MOSAIC rules, creating a path for the Axe to be certified and operated as a Light Sport Aircraft in the US. This removes the need for full Part 23 certification and allows sport pilots to fly the Axe for both recreational and commercial purposes. “This feels like a springboard moment for Skyfly,” adds Thompson.
