Garmin’s AXIS integrated flight display system will be available across CubCrafters’ aircraft lineup, covering both factory-new orders and retrofit installations on compatible models.
Announced by Garmin on 8 July, AXIS is a next-generation integrated flight display combining primary flight display, multi-function display and, on select models, IFR GPS, NAV/COMM radio and audio panel functionality into a single system. The integrated architecture reduces installation complexity, saves weight and produces a cleaner panel layout. The launch follows more than eighteen months of joint engineering and product integration work between CubCrafters and Garmin.
Patrick Horgan, president and CEO of CubCrafters, says: “I first flew AXIS on Garmin’s engineering simulator during a visit to their headquarters over two years ago, and I was immediately impressed with both the capability of the system and the elegance of its user interface. Since then, our engineering teams have been working closely with Garmin for the past year and a half to integrate AXIS across our aircraft lineup.”
AXIS will be available across the full CubCrafters range, including the Carbon Cub UL, Carbon Cub ULT, Carbon Cub FX, EX, XCub and NX Cub. Retrofit work will be carried out through CubCrafters’ factory service centre in Yakima, Washington, with availability extending through the company’s Authorised Service Centre network as Garmin’s product supply and certification schedules allow.
Because AXIS shares compatibility with many existing Garmin sensors and accessories and offers an upgrade path from Garmin G3X Touch installations, many retrofit projects are expected to see simplified installation and reduced downtime.
