Varistors

Varistors — including metal oxide varistors (MOVs) and silicon carbide types — are voltage-dependent passive components used in aerospace electrical systems to suppress transient overvoltages and electrostatic discharge (ESD), functioning by exhibiting a sharp decrease in resistance once a threshold voltage is exceeded, thereby protecting downstream circuitry in avionics and power distribution assemblies compliant with DO-160 environmental standards.
