Boron-reinforced composites cover structural materials in which boron filaments — typically produced by chemical vapour deposition (CVD) of boron onto tungsten or carbon substrates — are embedded in epoxy, polyimide, or aluminium matrices to deliver exceptionally high stiffness-to-weight ratios, used in aerospace primary structures such as wing skins and empennage components processed via autoclave cure or diffusion bonding.
