Electropolishing is an electrochemical surface-finishing process in which anodic dissolution removes a controlled layer of metal from aerospace components — typically stainless steel, titanium, aluminium, and nickel superalloys — immersed in a temperature-regulated electrolytic bath, producing a microscopically smooth, burr-free, passivated surface that meets AMS and NADCAP process specifications.
