Foam core composites covers sandwich-construction materials in which rigid polymer foam cores — typically closed-cell polymethacrylimide (PMI), polyurethane (PU), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), or polyetherimide (PEI) foams — are bonded between fibre-reinforced face sheets using autoclave cure, vacuum infusion, or resin transfer moulding (RTM) processes to produce lightweight structural panels and formed parts.
