Lapping services encompass the controlled material removal and ultra-precision planarisation of aerospace components through the abrasive action of loose or fixed abrasive slurries — typically aluminium oxide, silicon carbide, boron carbide, or diamond compounds — applied between a workpiece and a lapping plate to achieve flatness tolerances, surface finishes, and geometric accuracies in the sub-micron range required for critical mating faces, valve seats, sealing surfaces, and optical or gyroscopic components.
