Safran Electrical & Power has inaugurated its new electrical wiring factory in Chihuahua, Mexico, confirming its position as the largest aerospace electrical wiring facility in the world and as a pioneer of the aerospace industry in Mexico.
With this fifth Safran Electrical & Power wiring factory, the Chihuahua campus now covers over 71,000 m² and will employ 5,300 people. This campus supports major aerospace programs for Airbus, ATR, Boeing, Dassault Aviation, Embraer, Lockheed Martin, Sikorsky, and space and advanced air mobility programs including Blue Origin and Wisk.
The new 10,600 m² plant will enable the ramp-up of current programs, prepare for the next generation of single-aisle aircraft, contribute to new defence contracts, and strengthen the company's position in advanced air mobility markets. It is expected to create over 800 jobs, with operations scheduled to begin in November 2026.
The Safran Electrical & Power wiring activities in Chihuahua stand out for its competitiveness, thanks to strong capabilities built on Lean practices, industrial excellence, and digital continuity. The campus also benefits from a highly skilled, stable, and committed workforce, a network of competent and responsive Mexican suppliers, and a rich environment for training and technical expertise.
"Chihuahua is one of the cornerstones of Safran Electrical & Power's global network, at the heart of our ambition in aircraft electrical systems and our contribution to more sustainable aviation. This new site marks an important milestone, as Safran celebrates 35 years of presence in Mexico this year. For us, Mexico is a strategic pillar of our global operational excellence, competitiveness and innovation. The new plant we are inaugurating today is a strong signal for the future for our customers," said Bruno Bellanger, CEO of Safran Electrical & Power.
