Coriolis Composites has been awarded a contract by Bombardier Aerospace to supply automated fibre placement robots for the manufacturing of composite parts for the CSeries aircraft aft fuselage.
Coriolis Composites has already developed innovative automated fibre placement systems based on robotics for aircraft programmes with other Original Equipment Manufacturers in Europe. Coriolis Composites' thorough understanding of composite production challenges, as well as its proven technology, were two of the key drivers in Bombardier Aerospace's decision to order this reliable fibre placement equipment.
The use of standard robotic components as a basis for fibre placement equipment makes the system very economically attractive and flexible with respect to machine tool- based systems. Coriolis Composites fibre placement robots and simulation software enable it to solve complex manufacturing issues. Coriolis Composites' engineering teams are not only focused on building machines, but also on the whole composite design and manufacturing process, and the manufacture of certain key parts would not have been possible without this knowledge.
Coriolis Composites' world-class expertise in developing automated composite processes will be a key factor in the successful development of composite manufacturing technologies in the Aerospace community.
