Friday, 3 October 2008

Goodrich Corporation's (NYSE: GR) Landing Gear team in Tullahoma, Tenn. will receive the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and Industry's (TCC&I) 2008 Top Environmental Excellence Award. The award is to be presented to Goodrich during the TCC&I Environmental Awards ceremony held at Montgomery Bell State Park on October 2, 2008.

The TCC&I Top Environmental Excellence Award is given annually to the company that best demonstrates the greatest achievement toward overall environmental protection encompassing solid and/or hazardous waste, air, and water. Employees of the Goodrich facility in Tullahoma have made significant improvements to reduce the facility's environmental impact, including

-- Reducing hazardous waste from 35,000 pounds a year to zero;

-- Decreasing energy consumption by more than one million kilowatt hours per year;

-- Redirecting air compressor discharge to provide plant heating during the winter months;

-- Recycling over 1.3 million pounds of materials thus far in 2008;

-- Reducing water consumption by 100,000 gallons a year through recycling all cooling tower water back through the plant cooling system.

Brad Holt, Plant Manager at Goodrich's Tullahoma facility, said, "Our team has been making significant efforts to make and keep our facility 'green.' And as we reduce our impact on the environment, we realize savings in utility consumption and waste disposal costs. Clearly, taking care of the environment makes good business sense."

Wayne Scharber, Vice President of Environmental Affairs, TCC&I, said, "Goodrich is demonstrating true leadership at their facility here in Tullahoma. This Top Environmental Excellence Award is a testament to their stewardship and commitment to the environment, and I hope it encourages other companies to pursue their own environment-friendly projects beyond permit compliance."
