PRESS RELEASE
Issued by: Collins Aerospace, Avionics Division
Rockwell Collins has announced new software feature enhancements to its Airshow® 4000 Moving Map Display and Flight Information System for business aircraft.
"As the needs and expectations of the business jet market evolves, we continue to enhance our Airshow 4000 system to offer a comprehensive, customizable cabin solution," said Tommy Dodson, vice president and general manager of Cabin Systems for Rockwell Collins. "It's always been our philosophy with our moving map product to continuously increase its functionality and capabilities."
New software features include Atlas Maps Expansion, Point of Interest Panels, Real-time 3D day/night animation and additional map resolutions.
The new Atlas Maps are one of three available map styles featuring interstates, major highways, and their associated icon markers as a layer on top of a topographic map - similar to map applications known from the internet. Atlas Map information is now available for North America and Europe with the plan to expand to other regions of the world.
New Point of Interest (POI) panels triggered by the current location of the aircraft will present image and text information about various points of interest along the flight route.
New graphical transitions on the 3D map animation allow real-time appearance of dawn, day, dusk, and night.
Updates to the topographic maps will include additional map resolutions allowing more detailed views and enhanced transitions between zoom levels.
