Esterline CMC Electronics' new 10.4 inch Class 2 Electronic Flight Bag on display for first time at Paris Air Show
Monday, 15 June 2009

Esterline CMC Electronics' new 10.4 inch Class 2 PilotView® Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) which was launched at NBAA 2008 and entered production in May 2009, is on display for the first time at the Paris Air Show. Compact and portable, this avionics grade EFB system enables paperless cockpit operations, including electronic charts, graphical weather, aircraft and operator manuals.

Building on the PilotView CMA-1100 platform, the new PilotView EFB, known as the CMA-1410, features a 10.4 inch LED-backlit display and several capability improvements in the areas of readability. The 10.4 inch PilotView is plug and play interchangeable with the current PilotView installation, which features an 8.4 inch display.

Bruce Bailey, CMC Electronics Vice President, Commercial Aviation, said: "This latest addition to our PilotView product portfolio provides further installation flexibility to larger cockpit operators and builds on our proven, industry-leading PilotView EFB family."

CMC's 10.4 inch PilotView® EFB recently has been selected by Boeing for the Next-Generation B-737s and BBJs. The Class 2 EFB system will be available on production aircraft and for retrofit.

The lightweight and self-contained 10.4 inch PilotView features a compact, display processor. Its high-performance sunlight readable backlit display provides superior readability in all conditions. The film-on-glass touchscreen and simple bezel layout provide quick access to specific functions and applications. An Intel® Centrino Mobile processor is at the core of the EFB system, and dual USB 2.0 data ports are located on the Electronic Display Unit. The unit also features built-in WiFi communications and can enable 3G/Wimax capability. The baseline Windows XP® platform accepts a wide range of off-the-shelf and customized third party software applications.

CMC's PilotView EFB stays powered during all flight phases, thereby improving productivity and reducing workload. Flight preparation is made easy with efficient access to up-to-date aircraft documentation, checklists and flight planning information. During flight, the PilotView further reduces pilot workload with electronic charts and manuals, and enhances safety with real-time weather information. On the ground, electronic logs capture essential information and fleet management is performed in practically real time with the electronic transfer of data that was previously circulated on paper. The PilotView EFB consists of display/processor unit and aircraft interface unit, which are easy to install in a variety of cockpits.

Over 23 STCs are available for the PilotView EFB on aircraft ranging from the Gulfstream GV and GIV and Bombardier Global Express/XRS to the Boeing 737. PilotView is the sole OEM Class 2 EFB option at Dassault, Pilatus and Sino Swearingen. PilotView has been selected by Rockwell Collins for the Bombardier Global platform, by Embraer for the E-170/190 program, by ATR for the ATR-42 and ATR-72 aircraft, by Bombardier for the CRJ700/900/1000 and by Boeing for the Next-Generation B-737s and BBJs.
