PRESS RELEASE
Issued by: Safe Flight Instrument Corporation
Safe Flight Instrument Corporation, the world's leading manufacturer of aircraft lift instrumentation and control systems, has recently supplied Embraer with its 150th Stall Warning and Protection System (SWPS) and the Angle-of-Attack (AoA) Sensors on the Embraer Phenom 100. The program resulted in Safe Flight being awarded the top Developmental Supplier of the year in 2008 by Embraer. Safe Flight has ramped up deliveries in recent months with increased aircraft deliveries in the forecast for the 3rd and 4th quarters of 2009. S
afe Flight's award winning Product Support team recently completed training on the SWPS system at the Embraer facility in Dallas. The class covered a wide range of material related to all aspects of the system from installation to troubleshooting and system operations.
Safe Flight's Stall Warning and Protection System has been specifically designed to integrate with the Phenom 100's avionics suite. The SWPS computer interfaces with the AoA sensors to measure the direction of local airflow with respect to the fuselage reference and calculates normalized AoA for that particular aircraft mode. The computer generates a stall warning output that gives adequate warning prior to a stall and activates a stick pusher.
A self-regulating heater located in the vane provides ice protection. The vane is field replaceable with no recalibration necessary and is hinged to eliminate the possibility of engine ingestion damage resulting from loose vane caused by bird impact in flight. The vane shape, 360 º mechanical rotation and rain shield with low friction seal prevent damage and loss of accuracy during high-pressure washing, rain and other ground operations.
