New Boeing 787 Dreamliner takes first flight with TTTech solutions
Wednesday, 16 December 2009

TTTech, the leading supplier of dependable networking solutions based on time-triggered technology, has contributed proven solutions for the completion of the first Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Boeing's 787 Dreamliner completed its first flight on December 15. TTTech's products and services were used for integration of Hamilton Sundstrand's electric and environmental control systems in the 787.

The technologically advanced Boeing 787 Dreamliner successfully took to the sky for the first time and performed well. The 787 Dreamliner will use 20 percent less fuel than today's airplanes of comparable size, provide airlines with up to 45 percent more cargo revenue capacity, and present passengers with innovations such as wider seats and aisles, larger windows, and other conveniences.

Hamilton Sundstrand is a major systems supplier for the 787. In addition to its component engineering and manufacturing roles, Hamilton Sundstrand manages the systems integration, and oversees verification testing and certification of the airplane power system.

The 787 Dreamliner's first flight demonstrates the successful integration of TTP-based distributed control systems. This proves the capabilities of TTP technology, TTTech's products and engineering to support complex system integration programs in global multi-vendor cooperation.

"We are proud to support one of world's most advanced, most comfortable and environmentally progressive airplanes with our TTP data bus solution as well as embedded software components", states Kurt Doppelbauer, Director Sales Aerospace at TTTech. "Our involvement extended beyond products. It spanned from platform architecture analysis and integration tasks, integrated software development environment and corresponding processes to verification, validation and certification support."
