SUBARU Boeing 787 central wing production cumulative total of 1,000
Wednesday, 8 January 2020

On January 2, 2020, SUBARU shipped the Boeing 787 No. 1,000 central wing work package *1 to Boeing, Inc. in the United States .

The Boeing 787 is the world's first passenger aircraft with carbon fibre composite material applied to its main structure, and has achieved a record 12 years and 11 months after the first aircraft was shipped on January 10, 2007. We have been involved since the early stages of development and are responsible for the development and manufacturing of the central wing and the integrated package of the main landing gear housing. The central wing is a key part of the aircraft that connects the left and right main wings of the aircraft with the front and rear fuselage to support the load and also functions as a fuel tank.

Prior to shipment, on December 18, 2019, a commemoration ceremony was held with our partner, Boeing, at the Handa Plant of our Aerospace Company (Handa City, Aichi Prefecture), which is assembling the central wing.

The SUBARU Aerospace Company has one of its main businesses in the development and manufacturing of the central and main wings, in addition to the production of completed aircraft. At the Handa Factory, the Boeing 777 large passenger aircraft and its successor are Next-generation large passenger aircraft "Boeing 777X", medium-sized passenger aircraft "Boeing 787", and the Ministry of Defense "fixed-wing patrol aircraft (P-1)" and "transport aircraft (C-2)" central wing of five models doing. Going forward, we will continue to hone our own technology with quality first, value our customers' trust and cooperate with companies in Japan and overseas, and strive for further growth.
