Composite filament winding covers the automated process of helically or hoop-winding continuous reinforcement fibres — typically carbon, glass or aramid — pre-impregnated with or passed through thermoset resin systems such as epoxy or bismaleimide, onto a rotating mandrel to produce axisymmetric structural components including pressure vessels, rocket motor casings, drive shafts and ducting.
