Composite tape lay-down covers the automated deposition of pre-impregnated unidirectional tape onto tooling surfaces to build up structural laminates, encompassing both Automated Tape Laying (ATL) and Automated Fibre Placement (AFP) processes using thermoset or thermoplastic prepreg in carbon, glass or aramid fibre systems, with in-process compaction, laser or heat-lamp tow steering, and CNC-controlled head positioning.
