Tachometer generators are electromechanical sensing devices that convert rotational shaft speed into a proportional analogue voltage or frequency output, used in aerospace applications to monitor engine spool speeds, rotor RPM and accessory gearbox rates. They typically employ permanent-magnet AC or DC generator principles, with output signals conditioned for ARINC-compatible instrumentation, FADEC feedback loops and flight-deck display systems.
