Knife-edge seals are non-contacting labyrinth-type sealing elements used primarily in gas turbine engines and rotating machinery to restrict inter-stage leakage of air, gas, or fluid across pressure differentials, covering thin metallic fin geometries machined or formed from nickel superalloys, titanium, and abradable material pairings, and encompassing both straight and stepped labyrinth configurations qualified to AS9100 standards.
