Electrochemical Machining

Electrochemical Machining (ECM) covers the anodic dissolution of conductive aerospace alloys — including nickel superalloys, titanium and hardened steels — using a shaped cathode tool, electrolyte flow and precisely controlled DC current to remove material without thermal or mechanical stress, encompassing related processes such as Electrochemical Grinding (ECG) and Pulsed Electrochemical Machining (PECM) for complex profiles, cooling passages and integrally bladed rotor (IBR) manufacture.
