Conversion Coatings

Conversion coatings covers electrochemical and chemical surface-treatment processes that react with a metallic substrate to form an integral, corrosion-resistant layer, including chromate conversion (Alodine/Iridite per MIL-DTL-5541), anodising (Type I, II and III per MIL-A-8625), and trivalent chromium process (TCP) treatments applied to aluminium, magnesium and titanium aerospace structures to promote paint adhesion and passivation.
