Liquid oxygen (LOX) is a cryogenic oxidiser stored at approximately −183 °C and supplied to aerospace programmes for use as a propellant oxidiser in rocket propulsion systems, including liquid-propellant engines and staged-combustion cycles, requiring vacuum-jacketed dewars, cryogenic transfer lines, and LOX-compatible materials such as PTFE seals and austenitic stainless steels to prevent embrittlement and combustion hazard.
