SyberJet partners with Williams to power its next-generation SJ36 light jet

The collaboration between SyberJet and Williams combines the FJ44’s established reliability with advanced engineering from the SJ36 programme.

SyberJet Aircraft has chosen Williams International as the exclusive engine supplier for its next-generation light jet, the SJ36. The aircraft will be powered by twin FJ44-4A engines, each producing 3,621 pounds of thrust and a combined output of more than 7,200 pounds for a maximum takeoff weight of 18,500 pounds. This yields a thrust-to-weight ratio of 38.9%.

The SJ36 is designed to achieve a cruise speed of Mach 0.88, a 3,000 nautical mile range, and a service ceiling of 49,000 feet. Once certified, it is expected to become the fastest and longest-range light jet in the world, capable of nonstop flights such as New York to Los Angeles and Los Angeles to Hawaii.

First flights are scheduled for 2027, with certification and deliveries targeted for 2032. SyberJet and Williams will work closely to integrate propulsion technologies for high-speed, high-efficiency operations while retaining single-pilot capability.
