Bell and Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore an MV-75-based solution for the Republic of Korea’s High Speed Medium Utility Helicopter (HSMUH) programme.
The agreement brings together Bell’s tiltrotor expertise and KAI’s domestic aerospace capabilities as South Korea evaluates next-generation vertical lift options aligned with US Government priorities and policies.
The companies say the MV-75 platform could provide significantly greater speed, range and manoeuvrability than conventional helicopter designs, whilst supporting closer interoperability with US allies and partner forces.
Bell and KAI will also examine a modular open systems approach (MOSA), intended to allow Republic of Korea forces to update and adapt the platform more rapidly and at lower cost as operational requirements evolve.
“Bell is excited to work with KAI,” says Jeff Schloesser, senior vice president, Strategic Pursuits, Bell. “MV-75 represents the next generation of vertical lift. HSMUH presents another opportunity to extend the reach of this advanced capability and interoperability with U.S. allies and partners.”
The partnership will additionally explore industrial cooperation opportunities tied to the programme as requirements continue to mature.
