Taper pins are precision-machined, conical fastening elements used in aerospace assemblies to secure components such as hubs, collars and linkages to shafts, providing accurate angular and axial location without rotation. Manufactured to AMS and NAS dimensional standards from corrosion-resistant steel, titanium or aluminium alloy, they are installed into reamed tapered holes and may incorporate threaded ends for extraction, with surface treatments including cadmium plating or anodising applied to meet environmental and fatigue requirements.
