Friction stir welding (FSW) covers the solid-state joining of aluminium alloys, titanium, and dissimilar metal combinations using a rotating non-consumable tool to generate frictional heat and plasticise parent material without reaching melt temperatures, encompassing bobbin-tool, stationary-shoulder, and robotic FSW variants together with associated fixturing, spindle tooling, and process monitoring systems.
