Alternators for aerospace applications are AC generating machines driven by aircraft engines or APUs to supply regulated alternating current to onboard electrical systems, encompassing wound-field and permanent-magnet rotor designs, precision-wound stator assemblies, brushless exciter stages, and high-speed rotating rectifier assemblies rated to DO-160 environmental standards.
