Chromium as an aerospace material encompasses the supply of chromium metal, master alloys, and chromium-based compounds used primarily as alloying additions to enhance oxidation resistance, hardness, and elevated-temperature strength in structural and hot-section components, with applications including electroplated hard chrome coatings, physical vapour deposition (PVD) surface treatments, and chromate conversion coatings applied to airframe and engine parts.
