Electro-hydraulic servo valves (EHSVs) convert low-power electrical command signals into precisely metered hydraulic flow or pressure outputs, and encompass torque-motor and flapper–nozzle or jet-pipe pilot-stage assemblies, spool and sleeve final-stage hardware, LVDT feedback transducers, and the precision lapping, honing and electrochemical machining processes used to achieve the tight geometrical tolerances demanded by flight-critical actuation and fly-by-wire (FBW) control applications.
